Zkeletonz - 25 Hours
Zkeletonz dives deep into a digitized dancefloor on the soulful “25 Hours”. With just the right amount of funk-infused into these four on the floor beats, the whole song is pure joy. A party atmosphere dominates for the amount of positivity radiating throughout feels visceral. Layers are brought into the mix resulting in a fantastic flow of different styles and genres. By far though the vocals help to drive the point home, for they are delivered with just the right level of sheer joy. Reminiscent strongly of fellow dancefloor enthusiasts of Hot Chip or the more pop-centric Metronomy, there is a grace to the way they are able to craft some powerful hooks.
They get started immediately with the groove set. From there all else flows and they even touch upon a little bit of Prince’s funky 80s ethos. Beats here have a certain swagger to them. A buildup of sorts occurs for the synthesizers intermingle in a way that gives it a highly colourful atmosphere. Full of a tremendous degree of hope the jumpy take adds to the fantastic quality of the piece. With the fantastic breakdown halfway through the song gains a rather boisterous attitude. Lyrics here try to refocus the listener towards the easy-going moments of happiness that make life truly worth embracing and worth fully loving. For the finale, they let it all loose in a way that feels completely earned.
