Indie-folk artist Amy Ellen has released a dream-like, hypnotic new single, “In The Dark”.
The song opens up with a chiming acoustic guitar followed by an other-wordly electric guitar that immediately sets the tone for the rest of the song. Amy performs a fantastic vocal on top that feels reminiscent of the melodies of Joni Mitchell and the honesty of Patti Smith.
Juxtaposed to the lyrics, ‘In the Dark’ is bright and full of life, the combination of which feels like the audible equivalent of salted caramel.
Amy Ellen is part of the emerging Irish indie-folk scene. Hailing from Dublin, she met her band-mates through BIMM. Her music is inspired by Australian and American indie folk artists such as Angie McMahon, Kurt Vile and Fleetwood Mac.
Following a successful headline show in The Underground to celebrate her debut single ‘My Heart’ (released on November 15th 2019) received airplay from Radio Nova, Dublin City FM, Dublin South FM and 8Radio.
Amy's second release ‘It’s Time’ (released 6th March 2020) was featured in Golden Plec’s “Fresh Fridays” Spotify playlist and on their blog “Irish Songs You Need To Hear This Week”. The track was also made 'Song Of The Week' on The Acoustic Yard radio show presented by David Dee Moore.
'In The Dark' is part of a series of singles set to promote the release of an EP which has been pushed back to late 2020.
