Fanchon dives headfirst into a polished take on Riot grrrl on the pure adrenaline of “Doses”. Best played at maximum volume there is an intensity to the way she sculpts every verse giving it a sharped edge for maximum impact. Her voice has a commanding presence to it for she holds nothing back. Guitar riffs further add to the sheer force of nature quality of the track as the many layers intermingle to delve into something outright splendid. Within the whole of the piece the evolution becomes something to be admired as they make sure that group interplay has just the right level of distortion and disorientation to it, for it is a joy to get lost in.
Nor do they waste even a moment for right from the first blast of the guitar they start up strong, intensifying as needed for a truly epic dash on through. Drums beat on through with a clear-eyed focus making sure it all has an acute presence to it. The tempo is doubled then tripled down on, for they bring a whole slew of styles into the mix from the punk roots to the alternative rock elements that further add to the track’s emotional core. Her ability to cover such a vast range of emotion further helps to give the piece a true kindness to it all, one that has a great power.
“Doses” shows off Fanchon’s uncanny ability to create the sort of groove that feels unlimited in terms of its sheer possibility.
