Fool Saint – Some Kind Of Crazy

Fool Saint goes for a soulful, serene take on shoegaze with the powerful “Some Kind Of Crazy”. Their gestures bring up imagery of the Cure and early My Bloody Valentine, among others. An intimacy exists within their execution of the song. Everything about it has a delicacy to it. Interplay within the band adds to its sense of purpose. Vocals swim through the rest of the din for there is a hard-fought clarity that comes into focus with each reiteration of the theme. Melodically rich as well the whole of the work feels ever so uplifting.

They set the tone immediately. Elements of dream pop filter into the fray for there is a surreal quality that seems to get explored in full. At first the song has a lightness to it. With each twist and turn they add onto this weight. Deep in the sound there is a Byzantine nature about it featuring elements darting about. All of it feels liberating, as the song has a defiant stance to it while it races through. Slow at first the speed of the song increases as it reaches closer to the end. For the final stretch there is a mad dash to fully wrap the rest of the sound up, with all the many details vividly coming into place in a truly moving fashion.

“Some Kind Of Crazy” features gorgeous work showing off Fool Saint’s uncanny ability to craft an entire world with ease.
