Jonny Spalding's 'Community' Is An Electronic Gem.
Introducing UK songwriter-composer-producer, Jonny Spalding. Jonny grew up in Norfolk before moving to London at 18 to study Music Composition & Technology. Jonny has collaborated with many artists, working behind the scenes as a songwriter which led him to work on his first solo music in 2020 with a number of independently released tracks and remixes. Now he presents his new mixtape 'Community'. Experimenting with a diverse group of UK musicians, including Sharlene Hector (Armand Van Helden,Bassment Jaxx), Soulful J Appiah (Jess Glynn), Folk Singer-songwriter Emma Ballantine, JazzTrumpeter Freddie Gavita & DJ Amy Lauren, Jonny recorded songs and sounds rooted in his love of electronic music alongside engineer Hugh Fothergill (Volleyball) to create a compilation/Mix-tape thatdraws on the community approach to his music. Community includes new songs including Break Me, featuring J Appiah, a lo-fi electronic ballad, which drew praise from Spalding's production-heroes The Nextmen and Hole In My Heart, which hit #1 onBeatport Deep-house chart in Summer 2021. All in all, there is something for everyone within this mixtape. It beautifully explores life in all its shades, and it offers moments of respite and elation, in a varied array of tracks. A mesh of genres too, you are sure to find your own favourite track. We particularly love the opening track 'Therapy' with its brooding piano, before it erupts into hip-hop. The track is such a melting pot of musical styles working so seamlessly together. We love the heartfelt synth drone sounds roaring through on the choruses, before the bridge dials it back a touch, offering a moment of calm before the storm erupts once more.
