The Fur Supplies The Sunshine With Single ‘Forbidden Fruit’

For most of us, last year seemed to stifle our creative spirit. Yet for one up and coming artist, it only fuelled the fire. The Fur, an artist and producer based in Sweden, set out to score our lockdown days as he released a slew of singles last year. His signature sound is rooted in the realms of EDM and pop, with hints of other electronic influences thrown in. It’s reminiscent of the epic artists of EDM before him. From the land that brought us Avicii, Zara Larson and Alesso, now in storms The Fur. Having listened through his diverse discography, it’s clear that The Fur has taken time to hone his craft. He offers up consistently slick transitions, smooth vocal stacks and intricately designed drum beats. He manages to create space within each soundscape to reflect the tone of his vocal collaborator.

‘Forbidden Fruit’ is a great example of this. The track’s co-writer and vocalist Julia Ross boasts a raw vocal tone that sways between the tender and empowered moods of the song effortlessly. Swimming through the synth-led soundscape, the contrast of electronic elements with her unique tone is captivating. Underlying her vibrant vocal performance is a slick sonic landscape, dynamic and fluid underneath the repeated vocal melodies. The Fur infuses electronic elements with the sweet sound of Nicklas Thelin’s guitar gestures. Sewing together the striking synth sections with tender acoustic moments is tricky; yet, The Fur created an intriguing tapestry with the marrying of these elements. At its core, ‘Forbidden Fruit’ is a dance track, boasting utter beach party vibes. So it seems, in these wintery days, The Fur is bringing summer to us in the form of this EDM anthem.
