“Vem me curar” proves to be a pure joy, with João Pedro & Abelardo true masters of their craft.

João Pedro & Abelardo - Vem me curar

A true party starter of a track, João Pedro & Abelardo create a sound of true togetherness on the soulful “Vem me curar”. Vocals and guitar mix together perfectly. Guitar riffs here have a lyrical quality to them, drawing from rock, Bossa Nova, with the neat electronic flourishes a fine touch. Production has a raw, gritty quality to it as if it truly yearns to get down. Lyrics here have a pining quality, a yearning for something more, for someone more. By allowing this impulse, this burning desire to take centre stage there is a glory to how it fully unfolds adding to its sense of place. Within the work there is a tropical impulse, a neat nod to their own background.

Right from the start the guitar slinks its way into the fray in a way that adds to the colourful array of textures that tie themselves into the fray. His lyrics are delivered quickly and with such passion behind them. The beat has a steady consistent quality while it anchors the rest of the action. Nor do they ever get fully stuck in a groove – instead they are constantly elaborating upon that initial spark that began it further lending it a graciousness. For the final stretch they let their hair down to some degree, as the volume is a must aspect becomes particularly important as they let go, allowing the music to wonder wherever it wants.
