Zebulon & Company goes for a delightfully energetic country rock spirit on the giddy “Ramblin’ On”. Everything about the band has a tremendous optimism about it. Band interplay feels fantastic for they rush through the track length without a care. Done with such enthusiasm there is a bliss to the way they allow it to evolve, giving it a unique yet classic quality about it. The rhythms too further invite the listener to take part, to blast the volume, and to just get lost in the thick of it.
Not wasting a single moment, the guitar gets things started on a high note. From there the rest of the band comes into the fray. The sheer level of joy that shines on through the piece feels outright liberating. An elastic freewheeling attitude prevails, and they let that fire burn bright with the whole of the track. With nods to classic country, of the Johnny Cash variety, filter on through. Lyrics here matter a great deal as there is a thoughtfulness to it. Verses are chosen with the utmost of care making sure that every single line matters. Although the vocals clearly run much of the sound, the occasional solos of the sound further add to the way it all grows and grows. Evolution of the sound happens with such grace, as they defy contemporary trends to go back to music’s very roots with an Americana that feels so welcome.
